Which mobile phone is best?

Depends on how one works and which features are most important.

Installed Applications

iPhone

The latest in installed applications and communications with the new iPhone 3G with any mobile phone.

Without question the most revolutionary mobile phone feature for 2010 and beyond!

MobileMe services (www.me.com) provide the ability to sync contacts, calendar, E-mail without the need of a cable at PC all done in real time!  That is smart mobile computing by Apple knowing how people work and what is most needed to work efficiently.

Download free and inexpensive applications to iPhone---Internet radio, buddy locator, stereo remote control--even a carpenters level of which uses the built-in accelerometer and much more!

Check voice mail stored on phone.  Fast forward through messages using touch sensitive display--->no need to call provider and then wait for eternity sorting through many voice messages.  Nuclear powered compared to all else as hammer and chisel.

Reception of E-Mail

BlackBerry

There is no beating the BlackBerry with respect to "receiving" Internet mail messages.  However, must be configured correctly with forwarding/direct relay of E-mail messages.

Some Internet mail providers do not provide forwarding of E-mail (Qwest mail, Hotmail do not forward).  If not configured with forwarding and high speed relay---greatest feature of BlackBerry is lost.

Treo Palm

Have found applications (installed programs) for the Palm to be versatile from business to personal usage.

Easiest to Use

iPhone

Engineered by Apple for the folks who are absent minded, busy and do not wish to read manuals.

The touch sensitive display and readability is awesome.  In particular for those in need of reading glasses.  Best choice for reading/writing E-mail and text messages.

Engineered for the idiot and the genius.  Well done by Apple.

Microsoft Compatible

Microsoft Windows Mobile "Smart Phone"

The E-mail relay through Verizon is the worst system available.  A step backwards in technology for most folks....mail reception delay as long as 30 minutes and no less than 15 minutes.  Terrible E-mail reception compared to the BlackBerry.  Options for checking voice mail through Verizon a disaster compared to the visual voice mail feature through AT&T with the iPhone.

Not a "smart" phone choice at all although early in 2000's did in fact have break through features of which are now antiquated compared to the BlackBerry and iPhone.

There are many features to review---yet voice messaging and Internet mail are huge.

If you must receive an E-mail message at your mobile phone as soon as possible and is the most desired feature---without question get a BlackBerry and have configured for high speed relay of Internet mail.

If you wish to have the easiest to use, the most cool features---the iPhone from Apple is it...Ed's choice.

There are problems with each phone.  Each has it's own set of engineering bugs and issues.

Top Problems with Mobile Phones:

iPhone---When removing the stereo headset from the jack, the standard microphone and speaker for carrying on a normal phone conversation can be lost!!!  A huge physical engineering bug.  Occurs as a result of pulling the cord out of the iPhone too quickly.  Problem corrects itself ONLY by plugging the headset back in and removing slowly.

Other problems include radio interference under the AT&T service with computer speakers where a buzzing sound is produced---counter intuitive as the iPhone has an iPod built in for playing music through speakers.  Found problem is lessened if speakers are placed on floor, shielded in metal case and/or  if speakers do not have audio amplifier built into speaker case.

Can not swap batteries.  This means you must keep that iPhone charged.   However, one of the most common failures of a mobile phone is that the battery compartment becomes physically damaged with a battery constantly falling off or jiggling loose.  This can not happen with the iPhone--lesser of the two evils is a battery which can not loosen.

Is slick and easy to drop.  Keep in crystal case set and belt clip.

Only available with AT&T.

BlackBerry---Setting up E-mail for high speed relay is impossible for the average person.  Many people never make use of the high speed relay--the most powerful feature from the BlackBerry.

Treo (Palm)---Sync problems between the Palm and Microsoft Outlook software.  In particular, when attempting to sync at alternate PC.  Methods must be executed to "cleanse" PC of previously installed profile associate with the Palm software and ActiveSync.

Microsoft Mobile (SmartPhone) with Verizon "Push" technology---For the love of God--Do not do it unless you enjoy hours of gut wrenching-masochistic episodes attempting to resolve issues with syncing, E-mail and an overload of features the average person will never use.  Overly engineered with respect to built-in operating system features.
